With Difficulty Comes Ease Panoramic

Allah is ever near, “He is closer to you than your jugular vein” the Qur’an teaches us. For a believer, all that affects him, the good and the trials, are a mercy from Allah ta’ala.

As Muslims, we believe that all trials are from the mercy of Allah, that when He leads us to troubled waters, it is not to drown us but to cleanse us. In desperation, just as in the state of well-being and joy, we can also feel the merciful presence of Allah. Desperation can elevate us to the realization that we are beggars of Allah; for, without His grace, we have nothing.

We may well expect that ease will follow difficulty, but the Quran promises us something more: “So, surely with hardship comes ease. Surely with (that) hardship comes (more) ease” (Surat al-Sharh, 94:5-6). And this is the ease that comes from Allah’s merciful gaze upon you. If He brings you to it, He will certainly bring you through it.

With the myriad of difficulties facing each and every one of us, let us ALL collectively embrace 2021 with the hope in Allah that ease will prevail for all of our Muslim brothers and sisters, wherever they may be, the world over.
