Excellence in All of Your Actions

Within this circle, the following hadith is written: “Verily Allah loves when one of you undertakes an action that he strives for excellence therein.” (Abu Ya’la and al-Tabarani)

Subhanallah, how beautiful our religion is! This hadith is informing us that Allah ta’ala loves excellence in all things; be it in our matters related to Dunya or Akhirah. And who better than our beloved Messenger and Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace) to exemplify this divine instruction? Allah ta’ala granted him (May Allah bless him and give him peace) excellence and perfection in all walks of his noble life, including his character, speech, and devotional worship!

In another hadith, the Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and give him peace) said: “Verily Allah has written beauty on everything. So, when you kill (i.e. in cases of qisas and hadd), kill in a beautiful way. And when you slaughter, slaughter in a beautiful way. Therefore, you should sharpen his knife thereby granting comfort to his slaughtered animal.” (Muslim)
