And My Success is not but Through Allah

When the forces of tyranny and corruption ridicule, threaten and coerce a caller to the way of Truth, where does he find the courage and patience to bear his trials? This is what the Prophet Shu’ayb (peace be upon him) faced when he spoke against the extortion and fraudulency of his people. Like other callers to Allah, Shu’ayb knew that in the face of persecution, he could still be free in Allah. And so he responded saying “wa ma tawfiqi illah billah”, “my guidance cannot come except from Allah” (Surah Hud, 11:88). With our lives and breaths, we too can have this response, working for good, trusting implicitly in Allah and knowing that our success and freedom will only come from complete surrender to Allah.
