Spiritual & Visual Stimulation – The Basmalah, the First Quranic Command, and the Arabic Alphabet

Our beautiful religion of Islam teaches us that acquiring knowledge is of utmost importance. In fact, the very first instruction to the Prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace) in the Quran was to read (“Iqra!”).

The journey of learning starts from the time a mother conceives her child. The spiritual and physical state of the growing fetus is directly affected by its positive and negative surroundings. As such, we, as Muslims, need to be constantly reminded of our purpose in this life so that we may fare well in the everlasting abode of the Akhirah. This is accomplished through the concerted effort of learning our Islamic tradition and thereafter setting out and practicing upon—to the best of our ability—whatever we learn.

It is with this intention that we introduce to you our latest set of canvasses entitled: “Spiritual and Visual Stimulation – the Basmalah, the First Quranic Command, and the Arabic Alphabet.”

You will notice that, in addition to the two colourful and vibrant canvasses on the sides, we have intentionally designed the third one in middle using only black and white. The reason for this is, according to the experts, bold black-and-white images are best suited for visually stimulating a newborn baby’s mind in the first few months. This is because they only start seeing colour from around five months of age. And as the old cliche? goes, learning starts “from the cradle to the grave.”
