Description
“Thuluth” is the Arabic term meaning “a third”, probably drawing its name from the proportion of the straight lines in relation to the curves or from the fact that the nip of the pen used for this script was one third the size of the nip of the pen that was used at that time. It is a large, elegant, cursive script used in medieval times for inscriptions on masajid. It is still a popular ornamental script for calligraphic inscriptions and headings.
